Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Review
* Phoenix is top of the line: I love the performance and smell. Phoenix soaps lather well and offer good protection. Although initially smelling it I thought it was light; however once soaped up Al Fin increases in potency and really show off complexity. Al Fin is a great scent that masters a floral initial scent then leaves with some spicy notes at the end.. really unique and surprising good combination. I cannot wait to get my next soap from phenoix. The container is nice and large to allow easy loading of a brush: the artwork on this packaging is nice and I don't mind leaving this on the counter to show off to visitors. I have several (Around 8) different soaps and I always seem to pick up my 2 Phoenix soaps much more frequently.
* The performance is superb as expected. I have never had a bad performing soap from PAA! Now for the subject part...for or me, the scent of the soap was not what I expected. While I would say that it was "OK", it was not the scent I had hoped for. I will assuredly use all of this soap even though it was not what i expected, it is still pleasant. The aftershave however is NOT pleasant. It is strong and, well.....just..."off". I would describe it as sour. For people reading this review, my points of reference for Oud scented soap and aftershave have been RazoRock Tuscan Oud & RazoRock Stallion. I absolutely love both of these offerings and would give them both 5 stars!!! I own many PAA soaps and have found them to be great performers. The scent on this one just missed the mark for me. You however, may have a different opinion, which is why I provided other soaps/aftershaves with the same scent description for reference.
* Do not hesitate to get this soap. I wish I would have bought two more tubs. I'm in my first year of wet shaving and I started out with the typical soaps everyone recommends, but out of the many soaps I've tried (we all go a little soap crazy) this soap is the best I've used so far. Excellent performance! I can honestly say, using Phoenix Gondolier was the first time I understood how and why people say wet shaving is the best way to shave. The soap is so easy to lather! It's smooth, slick, provides plenty of cushion and the sent is without question my favorite. I find myself opening the tub to smell it every time I go into the bathroom. Well done Phoenix Artisan, you have a new customer in me. I'll be telling everyone I know about your product and I'll be purchasing many more in the future.
